This Maghreb country, which extends from Casablanca- to Rabat-a, Tanca- to Marrakesh-e, Fes- to Agadir-, stands out as the gateway of Turkish companies to Afrika- in recent years. So, what should you pay attention to when shipping from Turkey to Morocco? Is it more advantageous by sea or by road? In which sectors does Fas-'s rapidly growing economy offer opportunities?

As Fatih Group Logistics, we have been active in international transportation since 2006 and have gained significant experience in the North African corridor in recent years. We have regular flights to Fas-a and we know very well the logistical dynamics of this magnificent country. Interestingly, Morocco is geographically very close to Europe - the Strait of Gibraltar is only 14 km wide. This strategic location makes Fas-ı a bridge to both African and European markets. Last month, a textile company customer said that your logistic support was excellent when we entered the Moroccan market, now we have regular customers in Casablanca. Yes - Morocco is not just an exotic destination, it is a great trading opportunity.

There are several different ways to ship cargo to Fas-a, and each has its own advantages. Fas-'s unique geographical location - has both Akdeniz-e and Atlantik-e coast - offers a wide range of transportation options.

Airline Transport

Air transport is ideal for emergency shipments. Casablanca Mohammed V Airport is one of Africa's largest cargo hubs. Moroccan airline shipping is especially preferred for electronic goods, medical devices, season collections in the fashion industry or emergency spare parts in the automotive industry. Transit time is around 20-24 hours from Istanbul. Royal Air Maroc Cargo is quite advanced, cold chain facilities are also available. But the cost is high, not economical in large volumes.

Road Transport

Road-ferry combination is also an option. From Turkey to Spain by road, from there to Fas-a by Algeciras-Tanca ferry (1.5 hours). This method can be used especially for delivery to the northern cities of Fas- (Tanish, Tetouan, Fes). However, due to the long distance (about 6-7 days from Turkey to Spain) and the cost of ferries, the direct sea route is usually more economical.

Sea Freight

Sea transportation is definitely the most common and economical method. Tangier on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, Ceuta (Spanish territory but on the border with Morocco), and especially the Port of Tangier-Med; On the Atlantic coast, the ports of Casablanca, Mohammedia, Agadir, Nador are perfect for large volumes of cargo. Container shipment from Istanbul to Casablanca takes 8-12 days. RoRo (over-the-board) services are also available, especially used in vehicle and construction machinery exports. Morocco's maritime transport infrastructure is very advanced - Tangier-Med Port is one of the most modern ports of Akdeniz-, it has fully automatic container terminals.

Morocco Shipping by Sea Freight: Akdeniz- to Atlantik-e

The most common and economical transportation method from Türkiye- to Fas-a is sea route. As Fatih Group Logistics, we are experienced in maritime transportation and work with reliable maritime lines.

There are regular container services from Istanbul or Izmir ports to Casablanca, Tangier-Med or Agadir ports. Transit time varies between eight and fourteen days depending on the destination. Casablanca-ya usually lasts 8-12 days, Agadir-e (more south in the Atlantic) 12-14 days. It is possible to reach Tanca-Med-e via the Mediterranean in as little as 7-10 days.

Variety of container options. Twenty-foot standard containers are ideal for small and medium-sized loads, while forty-foot containers are economical in large volumes. Twenty feet of refrigerated containers (reefer) are used for food products, especially fresh vegetables and fruits, seafood or medicine. If you do not fill full containers, LCL (Less than Container Load) service is consolidated with other loads - you only pay for your own load.

The sea route has great advantages. First of all, the cost - is much more economical than road and airline in large volumes. The only realistic option for heavy and bulky loads such as furniture, building materials, machinery. It's also environmentally sustainable, with a low carbon footprint. The modern infrastructure of Moroccan ports also makes things easier - fast unloading, professional customs clearance.

As Fatih Group, we offer door-to-door service in sea transportation. We pick up your cargo from your factory in Turkey, containerize it, book ships, provide marine insurance, manage customs clearance at the Moroccan port and deliver it by road to the final delivery point. Just pack your bags and we'll do the rest.

Seaway prices vary depending on the type of container and destination, but in general, they are very competitive. Twenty-foot containers for Istanbul-Casablanca are between one thousand two hundred and one thousand eight hundred dollars on a dollar basis, while forty-foot containers are around one thousand eight hundred and two thousand four hundred dollars. These prices include port handling fees, Moroccan customs costs and domestic shipping. Nevertheless, it is extremely economical in large volumes.

Strategic Position of Fas-: Opening Door to Africa

Fas-'s geographical location is truly unique. Just fourteen kilometers from Avrupa-ya Gibraltar Strait, there is both Akdeniz-e and Atlantik-e coast, it stands at the gate of the Sahara Desert- and is located at a strategic point in the northwestern corner of Africa-. This position makes Fas- important not only as its own market, but also as a logistics hub opening up to Afrika-.

The Moroccan government is using this advantage very well. Billions of dollars have been spent on infrastructure investments over the past two decades. Tangier-Med Port has become one of the largest container ports in the Mediterranean, with a capacity of more than five million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) per year. The Port of Casablanca has been modernized, playing an important role in the Atlantic trade. The motorway network has been developed - There are modern motorways from Tanca- to Agadir-. The railway lines are being modernized, and even Morocco operates Africa's first high-speed train (between Tangier and Casablanca at a speed of three hundred and twenty kilometers).

Morocco is not only its own market of sixty-five million inhabitants, but also the gateway to West Africa. Fas-'s control over Western Sahara (de facto though controversial) provides road connections to Mauritania and from there to countries such as Senegal, Mali and Niger. Many European and Asian companies use Fas- as their African distribution center. The same strategy applies to Turkish companies - Send goods to Fas-a and distribute them to all West Africa- from there.

Fas- also has a special relationship with the European Union. Within the framework of the -Advanced Level Status- agreement, there are customs union-like regulations with the EU. Customs duties on industrial products are low or zero. Turkish companies can establish a Fas-ta production facility and provide an advantage in exporting to AB- - Made in Morocco- tag allows AB- to enter duty-free in some products.

Morocco Shipping Company Fatih Group: Bridge extending from Akdeniz- to Afrika ⁇

As Fatih Group Logistics, we offer our international transportation experience of more than eighteen years and the North African corridor expertise we have developed in recent years to the advantage of our customers in our Moroccan transportation services. With our Ankara center and Istanbul branch, we organize safe and timely shipments from every region of Turkey to all important cities of Fas-.

We work with reliable shipping lines in sea transportation. We have agreements with global shipping companies such as CMA CGM, MSC, Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd. In this way, we are able to offer regular voyage guarantee, competitive prices and quality service. We manage the entire process from container reservation to ship tracking, from port operations to customs procedures.

We are experienced in Moroccan customs clearance. Moroccan customs procedures come from the French system, it can be quite bureaucratic. But we have reliable customs broker in Casablanca, they know the local procedures very well. The documents need to be in French or Arabic, we provide translation support. We have direct contact with ADII (Administration des Douanes et Impôts Indirects - Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration).

We also have intra-Moroccan distribution service. We deliver by road to big cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier. We also work with partner shipping companies for southern cities (Marrakech, Agadir) or inland cities (Fes, Meknes). We can arrange refrigerated vehicles for food products that require cold chain.

We also attach importance to informing our customers about the Moroccan market. We advise on Moroccan business culture, trade procedures, payment methods, local regulations - all of them. Because we know that successful logistics is not only carrying the burden, but also contributing to the growth of the customer's business.

Shipping Prices in Morocco: Dollar-based Transparent Cost

Moroccan shipping prices are usually determined in dollars (USD) because sea freight operates in dollars on the international market. As Fatih Group, we do transparent dollar-based pricing, and all cost items are clarified from the beginning.

Prices for LCL (partial container) service are on a CBM (cubic meter ⁇ cubic meter) basis. A minimum of one cubic meter is charged. It is practical for small loads but if you have the quantity to fill full container, full container is much more economical.

All these items should be taken into account when calculating the total cost. We prepare detailed offers for our customers, all expenses are clearly written. We are transparent so that there are no surprise costs later.

Factors affecting prices include freight market fluctuations (especially problems in the Suez Canal can increase prices), seasonality (demand increases in summer), oil prices (bunker fuel surcharge), dollar-TL exchange rate and Moroccan customs policies.

Moroccan customs procedures: Bureaucracy and Solutions

Moroccan customs procedures come from the French bureaucracy, which can be a bit complicated. However, with the right preparation and experienced consultant, it goes smoothly. The Moroccan Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII) is modernizing, electronic systems are used, but there is still a lot of paperwork.

The basic documents required for Fas-a export are as follows. Commercial invoice, preferably in French but also accepted in English, minimum three copies. Detailed package list, namely packing list, content, weight, volume, HS codes should be specified. The certificate of origin, EUR-1-like form is used within the scope of the Turkey-Morocco Free Trade Agreement. Bill of Lading is taken from the ship in sea transportation. Product-specific documents, such as health certificate for food, CE certificate for electronics, label approval for textiles.

There is a Free Trade Agreement signed between Turkey and Morocco at two thousand six. Customs duties on industrial products are usually zero or very low. But there are different tariffs for agricultural products, processed food, some categories of textiles. Compliance with the rules of origin is important - the goods must be proven to be of Turkish origin.

There are issues of particular attention at Moroccan customs. Invoice values should be in line with market values, low invoices cause problems. HS codes must be chosen correctly, wrong code means extra tax or rejection. Labels must be in French or Arabic, especially in consumer products. Certificates of compliance with hygiene and health standards are required in food products. Some products require IMANOR approval from the Moroccan standardization body.

There are also products that require a Fas-ta import license. It may be necessary to obtain a prior license for electronic goods, some chemicals, telecommunication equipment. We inform our customers in advance which products require a license.

Customs processing time is between three and five days if the documents are complete. Fast in Casablanca Port, Tangier-Med can be even faster. However, in case of missing documents, false declarations or physical examinations, it can take one to two weeks.

The customs consultant partner in Fatih Grup-un Casablanca- manages the whole process. They prepare documents in French, enter online declarations into the ADII system, track customs payments, and, if necessary, are present at the physical examination. Our customers only send us the list of commercial invoices and packages, we take care of the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in Morocco Shipping Services

1.
