Sea Freight

The Silent Giant of Big Loads

Sea Freight

On average, a ship can carry 200,000 containers. This amount is equivalent to about 10,000 TIR-a. Are you surprised? This is why shipping is seen as the backbone of global trade. It may not be fast, but it's definitely a smart, economical, and environmentally friendly option.

Many customers ask us: The sea is slow, isn't it? Yeah, it might take some time. But when you take a step back and look at it, it's inconceivable that it even competes with road or airline costs on large volume products. Especially for loads such as construction material, machinery, automotive parts or wholesale consumer goods, the seaway is almost the only sensible option.

Why choose Sea Freight?

First of all, let's say this:-Slow- does not mean -unsafe-. On the contrary!

  • The cost efficiency: Costs can be 4 to 6 times lower than the airline (according to UNCTAD 2023 data).
  • High Capacity of: We offer solutions for all types of cargo with different transportation modes such as container, ro-ro (for wheeled vehicles), bulk (bulk cargo).
  • Transportation worldwide: Starting from Istanbul and Mersin ports, we serve Europe, Middle East, Asia and even Africa ports with regular flights.
  • Less carbon footprint: Sea transport emits 15 times less carbon per person than by road and 100 times less than by airline (according to the IEA report).

We, as Fatih Group Logistics, do not only load on board in maritime transportation processes. We manage the entire chain from port to port, customs to warehouse. Thanks to our Ankara-based team and Istanbul branch, we are with you at every stage of your cargo.

What should I look for when choosing a container?

That's a great question! 20 feet or 40 feet? Dry container or reefer?

  • 20 feet container: Up to a weight of about 28 tons, suitable for a volume of 33 m3. Ideal for small batches or busy products.
  • 40 feet high cube: It offers a volume of up to 67 m3-. It is preferred for light but bulky products (furniture, textile, etc.).
  • The Reefer Container: Critical for temperature sensitive products (frozen food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals).

We always tell our customers:-Container selection is a strategy about the nature of your product, not just the size.- That's why our technical team determines the most suitable way of transport for you free of charge.

How Does the Process Work in Sea Freight?

  1. The planning is: The route, ports, container type and delivery time are determined.
  2. Collection of: With our own fleet of Mercedes trucks, we pick up your cargo from the factory or warehouse.
  3. Operations of the port: We coordinate customs clearance, document preparation and loading processes.
  4. The Sea Pass: Your cargo goes to the high seas with our reliable carrier partners.
  5. Arrival and distribution: It is passed through customs at the destination port and delivered to the final point.

In this process, we offer you a monthly calendar and inform you every step of the way. Because for us it is necessary to say -sent- not enough -sent-.

Waves of the Future: Green Ports and Digitalization

Maritime transport is also becoming digital. E-document systems, AI-powered routing and carbon emission reports are now becoming standard. As Fatih Group Logistics, we actively follow this transformation and offer sustainable logistics solutions to our customers.

In addition, thanks to Turkey's strategic location, as one of the rare countries with access to both the Black Sea and Mediterranean ports, you have a serious advantage in maritime transport. We are proud to be with you to make the most of this opportunity.

The last point: Great burdens require great trust.

Sea transport requires patience. But when you work with the right partner, that patience pays off: Low cost, high capacity and minimal risk. As Fatih Group Logistics, we have been establishing this balance since 2006. Whether it is container, bulk cargo or project transportation, we travel with you by sea or by road.
